Practice Changing Potential of TAILORx: A Retrospective Review of the National Cancer Data Base from 2010 to 2015.

CONCLUSIONS: The most potential impact of TAILORx findings on practice change is for patients ≤ 50 years of age with RS of 16-25 who did not receive chemotherapy but may benefit. These findings may serve as a baseline for future analysis of practice patterns related to TAILORx. PMID: 31429016 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionPremenopausal Asian women with breast cancer have unique disease characteristics and may benefit from treatment that differs somewhat from international guidelines. Given the great diversity of patients and clinical settings worldwide, the ABCCG advocates evidence-based yet flexible and individualized use of all potential options to improve breast cancer outcomes.

AbstractPurposeGene expression profiling (GEP) test scores calculate risks of recurrence and likely benefit of adjuvant chemotherapy in ER-positive, HER2-negative, early-stage breast cancer. As health literacy and numeracy skills in the general population are poor, healthcare professionals (HCPs) require a wide repertoire of communication skills to explain clearly risk of recurrence scores (RSs) and uncertainty. We developed and evaluated an educational program for HCPs discussing GEP test results and adjuvant treatment.MethodsEight-hour workshops contained elements aimed at improving knowledge, communication skills and se...

Roche today announced the phase III FeDeriCa study met its primary endpoint. The study showed a new investigational fixed-dose combination (FDC) of Perjeta ® (pertuzumab) and Herceptin® (trastuzumab), administered by subcutaneous (SC) injection in combination with intravenous (IV) chemotherapy, demonstrated non-inferior levels of Perjeta in the blood (pharmacokinetics) compared to standard IV infusion of Perjeta plus Herceptin and chemotherapy in peo ple with HER2-positive early breast cancer (eBC).

Abstract PURPOSE: High levels of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) before neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) are associated with higher pathological complete response (pCR) rates, and better survival in TNBC and HER2-positive breast cancers (BCs). We investigated the value of TIL levels by evaluating lymphocyte infiltration before and after NAC. PATIENTS AND METHODS: We assessed stromal TIL levels in 716 pre- and post-treatment matched paired specimens, according to the guidelines of the international TIL working group. RESULTS: Pre-NAC TIL levels were higher in tumors for which pCR was achieved than in ...

Abstract PURPOSE: Adjuvant therapy for small, node-negative HER2-positive breast cancer (HER2+ BC) is controversial. We aimed to identify the subgroup that would benefit most from adjuvant chemotherapy and trastuzumab. EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN: We reviewed records of patients with pT1N0M0 HER2+ BC treated at our institution from January 1, 1998, through October 31, 2009. We compared three groups: A, no adjuvant chemotherapy; B, adjuvant chemotherapy only; and C, adjuvant chemotherapy with trastuzumab. We evaluated disease-free survival (DFS), overall survival (OS), distant recurrence-free survival (DRFS), and brea...

Authors: Mangone L, Mancuso P, Tagliabue G, Filiberti RA, Carrozzi G, Iacovacci S, Mazzucco W, Tumino R, Minicozzi P, Sant M, Giorgi Rossi P Abstract OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the frequency of neoadjuvant therapy (NT) in women with stage I-III breast cancer in Italy and whether it is influenced by biological characteristics, screening history, and geographic area. METHODS: Data from the High Resolution Study conducted in 7 Italian cancer registries were used; they are a representative sample of incident cancers in the study period (2009-2013). Included were 3546 women aged

ConclusionDespite guideline recommendations, a high rate of preoperative staging imaging is completed for patients with clinical stage 1 or 2 breast cancer who receive NAC, with few positive results.

ConclusionSeveral features are associated with long-term response to trastuzumab: few metastatic sites, taxane-based chemotherapy and maintenance endocrine therapy in HR+ patients. Further studies are needed to identify patients in whom trastuzumab can be stopped after several years of sustained response.
