Evaluating the safety and efficacy of adhesive strips for epidermal reinforcement in lower extremity wounds created by Mohs surgery

Background: Closure of lower extremity wounds created during surgery is challenging due in part to complications. Factors contributing to complications include limited blood perfusion, venous stasis, fragility of the overlying skin and inadequate wound care. In carefully selected patients, efficient wound closure in lower extremities can be facilitated by the use of adhesive strips. To our knowledge, there have been no large studies investigating efficacy of suturing through adhesive strips in lower extremity Mohs surgery wound closures.
