A case of anogenital squamous cell carcinoma treated with high dose radiation brachytherapy

Background: Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), however rare in the anogenital skin, is often locally aggressive. Development of anogenital SCC is related to several other dermatologic and related conditions, including condyloma, lichen planus, hidradenitis suppurativa, Crohn ’s disease, lichen sclerosis and immunosuppression of various etiologies. Even when lesions are detected early, surgical excision can be difficult due to the close proximity of other vital structures, and challenges with primary closure due to the paucity of excess tissue.
