Incidence of cutaneous T-cell lymphoma (CTCL) after chronic exposure to thiazides: pharmacovigilance analysis from the RADAR (Research on Adverse Drug events And Reports) Program

Introduction: Thiazides (TZ) have been reported to be associated with an increased risk for both malignant melanoma (MM) and keratinocyte cancers (BCC and SCC). Moreover, although an association between TZ and the most common subtypes: mycosis fungoides (MF) and S ézary syndrome (SS) has previously been reported, there have been no large population studies reporting data for such an association with CTCL overall. The aim of this study is to explore the association between all CTCL and chronic TZ exposure in a large “real world-setting” database: the Nort hwestern Medicine Enterprise Data Warehouse (NMEDW, a medical record data repository for> 6 million patients in the Midwestern U.S.).
