Mycoplasma pneumoniae –induced rash and mucositis syndrome with complication of hepatitis

History: A 21-year-old Mediterranean female presented to the emergency department with one week of sore throat, cough, malaise, fatigue and progression to include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, fevers and lip swelling. Chest x-ray revealed bilateral perihilar opacities. Laboratories were significant for leukocytosis of 13.7 and lactic acidosis of 3.6. Transaminitis with ALT of 386 and AST of 158 was present. She was diagnosed with pneumonia. Dermatology was consulted for lip erosions.
