8/21/2019Mandy Cohen, M.D., MPH,Secretary, NC Department of Health and Human Services2001 Mail Service CenterRaleigh, N.C. 27699-2000Re: Randolph Hospital, Asheboro“I sat with my Anger long enough . . . until she told me her real name was Grief.”-UnknownDr. Cohen,A friend of a friend connected me to Sam Hedrick – who advised that if I composed a letter and e-mailed it to her, it would be put into the hands of the Secretary. This finished product is three weeks later than planned . . . because I briefly faltered . . . wondering (for good reason), “What IS the point?”. But I had to do MORE than drop comments on local news stories, so here you go. Hold on. It ’s going to be more than you ever wanted to know.I have spent over twenty years sending detailed/impassioned letters to North Carolina and Federal officials about the despicable “business” tactics of Randolph Hospital-now-Randolph-Health (in my hometown of Asheboro, N.C.). I begged and debased myself in wholly-futile efforts to get those-charged-with-oversight to do their jobs. In my youth and idealism, I foolishly believed that right was might. And here we are.I sincerely hope that this is the last letter that I ever write related to Randolph Health.  It will be posted online - on the (mostly-archived) blog ( “Dr. J’s Housecalls”) where I fought for so long just to be heard.Ironically, last week, I found...
