Primary laryngeal lymphoma in China: a retrospective study of the last 25 years.

Primary laryngeal lymphoma in China: a retrospective study of the last 25 years. J Laryngol Otol. 2019 Aug 19;:1-4 Authors: Zhao P, Zhou Y, Li J Abstract OBJECTIVE: To retrospectively study the primary laryngeal lymphoma cases in China reported in Chinese-language literature. METHOD: Chinese-language literature was searched for papers on primary laryngeal lymphoma published in the last 25 years. RESULTS: The selected papers comprised a total of 115 cases. The male-to-female ratio was 3.4:1. Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma was the exclusive pathological type. The estimated 3-year, 5-year and 10-year survival rates were 70.9 ± 6.4 per cent, 63.4 ± 7.6 per cent and 56.4 ± 9.5 per cent respectively, as determined by Kaplan-Meier analysis. B-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients had a better prognosis than T-cell non-Hodgkin's lymphoma patients (p = 0.032). Patients with lymph node involvement at diagnosis had a poorer prognosis (p

SabaAbstractPrimary dural diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (PD-DLBCL) is a rare and aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) that can present in intracranial or intraspinal locations. While the optimal management is unknown, PD-DLBCL therapy is often mirrored after primary central nervous system lymphoma (PCNSL) therapy and aggressive treatment with a high dose Methotrexate (MTX)-based regimen is frequently used. Our comprehen...

Abstract Neurolymphomatosis (NL) is a rare manifestation of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, in which malignant cells infiltrate the peripheral nerves. Most patients are treated with high-dose methotrexate (HD-MTX)-based systemic chemotherapy regimens similar to patients with central nervous system lymphoma. However, because NL is rare, the efficacy of HD-MTX is largely unknown. We reviewed medical records of patients diagnosed with NL over the past 10 years and identified 18 patients. The underlying hematological malignancy was diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) in 10 patients (55.6%), intravascular large B-cell lym...

ConclusionMore than 2/3 of pts had sub-optimal ASPA activity after 1 to 3 cycles of ASPA containing regimens. This finding is probably due to the development of anti-ASPA inhibitory antibodies and may explain the poor outcome of pts with a disseminated disease despite the remarkable efficacy of ASPA in this disease. Although the series reported here is small and heterogeneous, our results still suggest a better outcome in pts with good ASPA activity or in case of switch between ASPA molecules in the context of low activity. ASPA activity monitoring should be recommended in pts with ENKTL, to avoid allergic reaction and ine...

ConclusionPHBL is a rare lymphoma affecting mostly elderly, Caucasian males. B-Cell NHL subtype and stage 1 were associated with a more favorable prognosis. However, compared to DLBCL, PHBL seem to have a poorer outcome. While treatment alone conferred a longer survival, the type of treatment option did not have an overall change to prognosis.DisclosuresNo relevant conflicts of interest to declare.

Conclusions: Previously, it has been reported that outcome of MNKL is relatively good than MNKPL. MNKPL and MNKL children had a poor prognosis in our cohort even though most patients received HCT. We identified alteration of molecules involved in NOTCH signaling and RAS-MAPK pathways. In addition, mutations of several transcription factors such as WT1 were identified. The drugs targeting RAS pathway and epigenetic factors may have the potential to improve outcome. An international collaboration for clinical and cytogenetic research of MNKPL and MNKL is needed as they are complex and rare diseases.DisclosuresNo relevant con...

Abstract Systemic capillary leak syndrome (SCLS) is a rare disease characterized by shock caused by capillary hyperpermeability. The disease can occur in cancer patients and effective therapeutic strategies have not been established yet. The aim of the study was to analyze the clinical and laboratory data, treatment modalities, and mortality rate of patients and to identify contributing factors leading to mortality of SCLS in cancer. We searched MEDLINE (inception to July 2018) and of 4612 articles, we identified 62 case reports on SCLS associated with cancer or cancer-related drugs in a total of 53 articles. SCLS...
