The role of CD146 in serous ovarian carcinoma.

CONCLUSIONS: Although CD146 immunoreactivity in tumor cells did not correlate with the routinely used clinico-pathological parameters, expression of CD146 in tumor cells was an independent pronostic factor for survival in serous ovarian carcinomas. Moreover, CD146 might be regarded as a novel biomarker of tumor neovasculature. PMID: 31424655 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: Platinum-free interval ≥ 12 months, complete response and normalized CA-125 levels after ultimate platinum-based chemotherapy are associated with prolonged PFS and OS in relapsing BRCA1/BRCA2 mutated ovarian cancer patients who received olaparib as maintenance therapy. We present the case of a patient diagnosed with compartment syndrome of the hand after laparoscopic surgery for epithelial ovarian cancer. The patient is a 42-year-old woman with incidental finding of high-grade ovarian serous carcinoma after an emergency surgery. On imaging evaluation, the patient was found to have evidence of residual retroperitoneal adenopathy and was taken to the operating room for a staging procedure by laparoscopy. In the immediate postoperative period, she developed compartment syndrome of the right hand that required multiple fasciotomies and multidisciplinary management by plastic surgery, orthope...

This study protocol was approved by the Institutional Review Board of the hospital. Data Collection Demographic and clinical data were retrieved from medical records in the hospital’s centralized database. These data included the age at diagnosis, International Federation of Obstetrics and Gynecologic (FIGO) stage, tumor histology and grade, type of surgery, and types and cycles of chemotherapy. Disease staging was based on the 2014 FIGO staging system. Optimal debulking surgery was defined as residual tumors with maximal diameters less than 1 cm; the others were defined as suboptimal debulking surgery. Disease rec...

Li Liu, Jiajing Lin and Hongying He* Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Liuzhou Worker’s Hospital, Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Guangxi Medical University, Liuzhou, China Background and Objective: Endometrial cancer (EC) is a common gynecological malignancy worldwide. Despite advances in the development of strategies for treating EC, prognosis of the disease remains unsatisfactory, especially for advanced EC. The aim of this study was to identify novel genes that can be used as potential biomarkers for identifying the prognosis of EC and to construct a novel risk stratification using these genes. Me...

This study aimed to investigate whether combining anti-PD-L1 Atezolizumab with BEV may have a synergistic effect and enhance the efficacy of both treatments in cisplatin resistant epithelial ovarian cancer (CREOC). We retrospectively analyzed 124 epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC) patients from Gynecologic Oncology Department of Tianjin Cancer Hospital between January 2013 and June 2018, who all were diagnosed with cisplatin resistance due to progressing

This study had a retrospective multicenter (two hospitals in China) design and a radiomic analysis was performed using contrast enhanced CT in advanced HGSOC (FIGO stage III or IV) patients. We used a minimum 18-month follow-up period for all patients (median 38.8 months, range 18.8–81.8 months). All patients were divided into three cohorts according to the timing of their surgery and hospital stay: training cohort (TC) and internal validation cohort (IVC) were from one hospital, and independent external validation cohort (IEVC) was from another hospital. A total of 620 3-D radiomic features were extracted and a Lass...

In conclusion, this study demonstrates that WG-391D exhibits strong antitumor activity against ovarian cancer and indicates that the down-regulation of CDC25B by inhibitors could provide a rationale for ovarian cancer therapy. Introduction Ovarian cancer is one of the most common malignances in females. The American Cancer Society estimated that there were 22,240 cases of ovarian cancer, and 14,070 deaths, in the United States in 2018 (1). During its early stages, ovarian cancer can be asymptomatic; hence, ~70% of patients have advanced disease when diagnosed and ultimately develop chemotherapeutic drug resistance an...

-Fang Cheng We aimed to determine prognostic factors of early stage (I/II) epithelial ovarian carcinoma (EOC) including clinicopathologic and chemotherapeutic regimens. Four hundred and thirty-seven women who underwent primary staging surgery with adjuvant chemotherapy between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2010 were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed from two medical centers. The prognostic factors were determined from multivariate survival analyses using Cox regression models. The majority of women were diagnosed with stage Ic (244/437, 55.8%). The histopathologic types were clear cell (37.5%), endometrioid (27....

This study aims to evaluate the impact of HIPEC in epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). A retrospective observational cohort study including 48 EOC patients treated and followed up between 2012 and 2016. Thirty-seven cases were treated by CRS only, while 11 cases were treated by CRS and HIPEC. The study was performed at National Cancer Institute (NCI) —Cairo University. There was no statistically significant difference regarding overall survival or disease-free survival between the group of EOC patients treated by CRS only and the one treated by CRS and HIPEC. Presence of ascites and histological types (serous/non-serous...
