However, the clinical use of zinc(II) complexes is hampered by hydrolytic insolubility and poor bioavailability and their anticancer mechanisms remain unclear. Here, we investigated the efficacy and mechanism of action of a polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP-k30)-based solid dispersion of Zn(II)-curc...
This study sought to answer the question by investigating exogenous GM3 effects on multiple steps involved in atherogenesis. First, the physicochemical properties of native low-density lipoprotein (LDL) and LDL enriched with exogenous GM3 (GM3-LDL) were characterized by dynamic laser scattering, atomic force microscopy, and agarose gel electrophoresis. Then, electrophoretic mobility, conjugated diene and malondialdehyde production, and amino group blockage of GM3-LDL/LDL were measured to determine LDL oxidation degrees and cellular recognition/internalization of GM3-LDL/GM3-oxLDL were detected via confocal microscopy and f...

RevelskyAbstractThe article is devoted to the application of modern sample preparation technique - microextraction by packed sorbent (MEPS) - in conjunction with non-conventional type of sorbent - hypercrosslinked polystyrene, that was investigated for the first time in this work. Their combination was used to extract phenylcarboxylic acid-type aromatic microbial metabolites from serum samples of a healthy volunteer with following derivatization and GC-MS d...
ConclusionCollectively our data suggest that the bioactive chemical pool which is responsible for the therapeutic effects of EW can be extracted in petroleum ether, and fractionated to a relatively small multiple components. Such components include known anti-inflammatory chemicals, which may contribute to the possible microglia polarization in brain lesion during the recovery of ischemic stroke.Graphical abstract
ConclusionsYGY has obvious reversal effects on the abnormal symptoms of adenine-induced CKD and the abnormal symptoms of rats with hypothyroidism and male reproductive hypotension. Its mechanism is related to its ability to regulate the HIF1α-STAT5 pathway.Graphical abstract
ConclusionWe call for an approach which incorporates a careful design, meticulous execution and a detailed reporting of studies focusing on the pharmacology/bioactivity of bioactive preparations. Clearly testable research questions must be developed and investigated experimentally. As the founder of pharmacology Claude Bernard put it already in 1865: ‘…. either the experimenter's hypothesis will be disproved or it will be proved by experiment. When experiment disproves its preconceived ideas, the experimenter must discard or modify it.‘Graphical abstract

ConclusionsBoth 18F-HX4 and 18F-FMISO PET/CT can be used as biomarkers for tumor hypoxia and radiotherapy-associated changes. The clinical utilization of these two PET tracers needs to be further validated.
