Pan-Trk immunohistochemistry reliably identifies ETV6-NTRK3 fusion in secretory carcinoma of the salivary gland

In conclusion, our data showed that pan-Trk IHC is a reasonable screening test for diagnosing secretory carcinoma of the salivary gland.

Conclusions: The abnormal location of FLT3 caused by different glycosylation status leads to the distinguishing signaling pathways. Targeting on FLT3 glycosylation may provide a new perspective for therapeutic strategies. Abbreviations: ABCG2: ATP-binding cassette transporter breast cancer resistance protein; ATF: activating transcription factor; AML: acute myeloid leukemia; CHOP: CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein homologous protein; 2-DG: 2-deoxy-D-glucose; EFS: event free survival; EPO: erythropoietin; EPOR: erythropoietin receptor; ERS: endoplasmic reticulum stress; FLT3: FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3; GPI: glycosylphosphatid...

Authors: Yoo JJ, Yu SJ, Lee B, Cho EJ, Lee JH, Kim SG, Kim YJ, Kim YS, Yoon JH Abstract Background/Aims: Patients with an intermediate stage of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) represent a highly heterogeneous population; therefore, many models have been proposed to predict the survival of these patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prognostic performance of a novel subclassification for tumors classified as Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) stage B using the Model to Estimate Survival in Ambulatory HCC patients (MESIAH). Methods: This analysis was based on 377 patients with HCC treated at Seoul ...

This study enrolled 2,940 subjects, including patients with GC (n=1,124) or gastric dysplasia (n=353) and controls (n=1,463). Tests to determine sPG levels and Helicobacter pylori (HP) infection status were performed. Area under the curve and receiver operating characteristic curve were calculated to identify the optimal cutoff values for sPG. The usefulness of sPG levels for the detection of GC and gastric dysplasia was validated by multivariate logistic regression. Results: The sPGI/II ratio was associated with the risk of gastric dysplasia and advanced-stage intestinal-type GC (IGC). In contrast, sPGII was associate...

Conclusions: Chromosomal alterations were frequently identified in both PDAC and IPMN with similar patterns. CEP18 gain and 17p and 18q deletions might be involved in the later stages of PDAC tumorigenesis. Chromosome 17p and 18q deletions might be excellent diagnostic markers. Authors: Ichihara E, Miyahara N, Maeda Y, Kiura K Abstract Systemic therapy for advanced non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) has dramatically changed in the latest 15 years. Molecular-targeted therapy has brought about an era of precision medicine, and immune checkpoint inhibitors have brought hope for a cure for advanced NSCLC. In the wake of this remarkable advancement, lung cancer with comorbid interstitial pneumonia (IP) has been completely left behind, as most clinical trials exclude patients with comorbid IP. IP, especially idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF), is often accompanied by lung cancer, and acute exa...

We describe the case of a 52-year-old female outpatient who developed OIC while receiving oxycodone for pain due to cancer with multiple bone metastases. Although she did not have brain metastasis, opioid withdrawal syndrome (OWS) developed after taking naldemedine orally. Her Clinical Opiate-Withdrawal Score (COWS) was 19 (moderate symptoms). However, she recovered from OWS on intravenous fentanyl and a continuous infusion of oxycodone. She did not develop OWS thereafter and was discharged two days after recovery. Conclusion Most head and neck pathologies show a broad cellular heterogeneity making it difficult to achieve an accurate diagnosis and efficient treatment (Graf and Zavodszky, 2017; Lo Nigro et al., 2017). Single cell analysis of circadian omics (Lande-Diner et al., 2015; Abraham et al., 2018), may be a crucial tool needed in the future to fully understand the circadian control of head and neck diseases. It becomes more obvious that there is only a small genetic component but a largely unknown epigenetics and/or environmental component for most of the head and neck pathologies (Moosavi and Motevalizadeh Ardekani, 2016; He...

Salivary gland neoplasms are a morphologically heterogenous group of lesions that are often diagnostically challenging. In recent years, considerable progress in salivary gland taxonomy has been reached by the discovery of tumor type-specific fusion oncogenes generated by chromosome translocations. This review describes the clinicopathologic features of a selected group of salivary gland carcinomas with a focus on their distinctive genomic characteristics. Mammary analog secretory carcinoma is a recently described entity characterized by a t(12;15)(p13;q25) translocation resulting in an ETV6-NTRK3 fusion. Hyalinizing clear...

CONCLUSIONSp‐STAT5 might be useful as a detection marker of MASC in the differential diagnosis of salivary gland cancers, and initial screening with p‐STAT5 IHC/ICC, combined with auxiliary fluorescence in situ hybridization confirmation, is a reliable, economical approach to identifying MASC of the salivary gland.
