AbstractWith the increasing of the prevalence of pediatric urolithiasis (1 –5%), retrograde intrarenal surgery (RIRS) is emerging as preferred option for the management of stones in pediatric patients. Although the principles of RIRS developed in adults can be applied in children, also expert adult endourologists feel uncomfortable to approach young patients due to long learning curve that usually is expected to be required in this particular setting. The aim of the study was to compare peri- and postoperative outcomes of RIRS in pediatric and adult patients performed by a single surgeon expert in adult endourology (...

In this study, we reported an electrochemical synthesis of graphene (Gr) functionalized with silver nanorods (Ag NRs) using 3D surfactant 4-sulphocalix [4] arene (SCX) and silver nitrate (AgNO3) from an aqueous solution. SCX is acted as a soft template to form Ag NRs along with the Gr sheets. UV-Vis (UV-Vis), Fourier-transform infrared (FT-IR) and Raman spectroscopies have confirmed the formation of Gr with Ag NRs. In order to develop a selective electrochemical sensor for OA, Gr-Ag NRs nanocomposite coated glassy carbon electrode (GCE) was prepared and tested for OA oxidation. This new sensor (Gr-Ag NRs/GCE) exhibited hig...

The objective of this study was to identify the prevalence and risk factors of renal complications of spondyloarthritis (SpA) patients, and to assess increased risks compared to general people. We conducted a retrospective study enrolled with consecutive SpA patients from an inpatient department and age, sex-matched general population (GP). The renal disorders investigated in this study contained decreased estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR), hematuria, proteinuria and nephrolithiasis. A total of 350 admitted SpA patients with complete medical records and 323 age and sex-matched GP were enrolled. Most SpA patients ...

This study sought to evaluate associations between nephrolithiasis and hemorrhagic and ischemic stroke using a national sample cohort from Korea. Data from 2002 to 2013 were collected for individuals ≥ 20 years of age in the Korean National Health Insurance Service (NHIS)-National Sample Cohort. We extracted nephrolithiasis patients (n = 22,636) and 1:4 matched controls (n = 90,544) and analyzed the occurrence of stroke. Matching was performed based on age, sex, income, region of residence, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, and dyslipidemia history. Crude and adjusted hazard ratios (HRs) were calculated using Cox proport...
