CONCLUSIONS: We found that the levels of ANGPTL-4 increases in obesity in adolescents. However, our results make it difficult to establish a relationship between hepatosteatosis and ANGPTL-4. Conclusions TH-based therapies show clinical promise for the treatment of NAFLD and hypercholesterolemia. Strategies for limiting side effects of TH are being developed, and may enable TH metabolites and analogues to have specific effects in the liver for treatments of these conditions. These liver-specific effects and potential suppression of the HPT axis raise the issue of monitoring liver-specific markers of TH action in order to assess clinical efficacy and dosing of these compounds. Background and Aims: Excessive accumulation of iron (IO) in the liver accompany metabolic diseases associated with increased cholesterol plasma concentrations such as type II diabetes mellitus, metabolic syndrome, and nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Bile acids (BA) are important endogenous metabolic regulators that modulate these pathologies but mutual relationship of IO and BA turnover is not thoroughly studied.
