Comment On: Bariatric Surgery Outcomes In Patients On Home Oxygen Therapy: An Analysis Of The Mbsaqip Database
The Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), now about five years old, has a database with a Public Use File (PUF), available to registered accredited centers, dating from 2015. This dataset is providing a wealth of information on bariatric surgical populations and their outcomes in these nationally-accredited centers. The first such bariatric database was the International Bariatric Surgery Registry, founded by Dr. Edward Mason, one of the original thought-leaders in bariatric surgery [1].
