Prognostic significance of laterality in renal cell carcinoma: A population ‐based study from the surveillance, epidemiology, and end results (SEER) database

This study identified 41  138 surgically treated RCC patients: Of these patients, 50.6% had right‐sided RCC, 59.5% were younger than 65 years of age, 63.8% were male, and 81.0% were Caucasian. The stage distribution was 67.0% (I), 9.5% (II), 17.1% (III), and 6.4% (IV). Patients with right‐sided RCC were more likely to have favorable clinicopathological features compared with patients with left‐sided RCC. In adjusted analyses, patients with right‐sided RCC showed significantly better CSS than those with left‐sided RCC within different subgroups including tumor size ≥10 cm (P = .004), age

Abstract The present case report describes a case of left renal clear cell carcinoma with brain, lung, para-aortic, and lymph node metastases (cT1bN1M1) in a 52-year-old Japanese male. The patient received sequential anticancer treatments with pazopanib, everolimus, and axitinib, but exhibited treatment-resistant tumor growth. Treatment with nivolumab resulted in a complete response in metastatic sites. However, the residual renal tumor, which was enhanced by contrast medium, required radical nephrectomy. Pathological analyses of the renal tumor revealed that it consisted of fibrotic and lymphocyte-infiltrated tis...

ConclusionThe findings from the study suggested that there were pathological differences in multifocal renal tumors, and that papillary carcinoma may be more common than clear cell carcinoma. The recurrence rate and survival rate of multifocal RCC were similar to monofocal tumors. Tumor recurrence may be related to satellite tumor nodules, which can only be detected once surgery is performed.

Rationale: T-cell large granular lymphocytic leukemia (T-LGLL) is a rare lymphoproliferative neoplasm of cytotoxic T cells and renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common form of kidney cancer, but T-LGLL associated with RCC has never been reported. Patient concerns: A 58-year-old Chinese male presented with general fatigue and intermittent-remittent fever, accompanied by palpitations and dizziness. Diagnosis: Radical nephrectomy was performed, and a diagnosis of clear cell carcinoma (T1N0M0, I phase) was made based on the postoperative pathology findings. With typical cellular morphology, immunophenotype and T-c...

AbstractTo study the current trends of renal cell carcinoma (RCC) in terms of demographic characteristics, clinical presentation, staging, mode of management, histopathology, and survival characteristics from a high volume tertiary care teaching institute in North India. We retrospectively reviewed the records of all patients of RCC between January 2006 and December 2015 and variables like age, gender, symptoms, tumor size/location/number, stage, type of surgery, histopathology, and survival characteristics were studied. One hundred forty-four patients were included in the study. Most common age group of presentation was 5...

ConclusionsAlthough metastasis of renal cell carcinoma is a rare differential diagnosis of gallbladder tumors, simple cholecystectomy is likely to offer a chance of long-term survival for patients with gallbladder metastases of renal cell carcinoma.

ConclusionsMixed tumor histology is an uncommon entity that is not associated with adverse features in a solitary renal mass. These results are especially relevant in discussing the role of renal mass biopsy, and provide further evidence that renal sampling is a valuable tool in the appropriate clinical context.

We report a case of a 60-year-old female who presented with multiple inguinal and axillary lymph node enlargements which on excision biopsy showed metastatic RCC. RCC can present with synchronous metastatic deposits in the various organs. RCC can metastasize to some atypical sites as well such as thyroid, orbit, and neck as mentioned earlier in literature. The patient presenting with extra-regional lymph nodes like inguinal and axillary is extremely rare, and so far only one clinical case could be found from India in 2008. A 61-year-old female presented in the emergency department with left flank pain and hematuria. Imagin...

Objectives The main aim was to conduct a retrospective epidemiological study to determine the histoclinical, pathological and therapeutic characteristics of kidney cancers in western Algeria. Patients and methods Retrospective epidemiological study including 115 cases of kidney ...
