CONCLUSIONS: Various demographic and socioeconomic factors are associated with use of combination systemic therapy compared to use of systemic monotherapy for psoriasis. An association with commonly used disease severity indices was not observed. RELEVANCE: An understanding of which patients are more likely to be prescribed combination systemic therapy will provide important context for long-term efficacy and safety data as they become available. This study will evaluate the health care costs and utilization of individuals during their first year of enrollment in HOME and identify factors associated with higher cost and utilization. Secondary analysis of claims data were used to identify cost and utilization. Generalized linear regression and negative binomial regression were used to calculate utilization and cost. The mean total cost of care during the initial year of enrollment (n=239) per individual was $11,095.87, with $4,640.83 attributed to inpatient care. Those with diabetes (p=0.01), epilepsy (p=0.02), or mood disorders (p=0.03) were more likely to be admit...

Abstract This qualitative analysis of survey data explores service and care experiences reported by Medicaid enrollees with disabilities newly transitioned to managed care. Consumer surveys were distributed to a random sample of adult program enrollees with disabilities in an independent evaluation of one state's Medicaid managed care (MMC) rollout. Researchers performed conventional content analysis to code comments submitted by enrollee participants (N=402) in response to two open-ended survey items. Six key themes were observed in the data: (1) unmet medical, long-term services and supports (LTSS), and informat...

In this study, we propose a system which encodes, analyses and segments actigraphy-based VAG data for assessing the severity of cartilage degeneration, and highlighting instances of activity which causes crackling sounds during limb movements. The proposed system encapsulates IoMT (Internet of Medical Things) requirements by providing efficient data compression and analysis at the source. Using an actigraphy dataset from 89 participants, our experiments yielded that the system is able to compress the actigraphy data into 3-bits per sample, thereby reducing the signal size by about 88%, without losing any vital limb movemen...

NHS Digital is piloting a reasonable adjustment flag on patient records which will let doctors, nurses and other health and care staff know that a patient has a learning disability and has specific needs that require adjustments to the services provided so they get the best care. The pilot will run to the end of September to test the technology behind the flag and gather feedback from staff, patients and carers. NHS Digital will then explore a potential expansion
