The numerical simulations are conducted to explain the phenomena of water-based lubrication with ultra-low friction coefficient. The results have showed that: The EDL hydrodynamic and asperity contact will work together to balance the out applied load. The EDL effect has greatly benefited for enhancing film formation and decreasing the friction to obtain the ultralow friction coefficient. To achieve the liquid superlubricity, the sliding velocity, liquid viscosity, surface roughness and EDL effect should be comprehensively considered. The proposed numerical model could be provided a better understanding and design thin film lubrication behavior.
