Vascular risk factors as independent predictors of neurocognitive impairments in patients with late-onset epilepsy who have small-vessel disease.
CONCLUSIONS: Vascular risk factors and sociodemographic characteristics were the best predictors of cognitive outcomes in a sample of late-onset epilepsy with cerebral small-vessel disease. Epilepsy did not show influence on cognitive function. Longitudinal studies are necessary to clarify the relationship between vascular risk factors and epilepsy on progression of cognitive deterioration in patients with late-onset epilepsy. Conclusion: By influencing a certain patient population throughout the organization, population-focused CNSs are in a unique role to lead an interprofessional team or serve as an expert consultant in pursuing DSC certification from The Joint Commission.
Conclusions: Implementation of an adapted aspiration risk assessment screening tool to document risk of hospital-acquired aspiration pneumonia and aspiration precautions protocol was associated with a decrease in aspiration pneumonia rates.

HIGH blood pressure can be life-threatening if left untreated. Fortunately, making simple dietary changes can keep the risks at bay. A certain superfood has been shown to lower a person ’s reading.
Conclusions The addition of MNBs to culture medium offers an innovative approach for the oxygenation of transplantable tissue, such as islet cells. This study demonstrated that MNBs filled with air provided the most optimal addition to the islet cell culture medium for improving islet cell survival amongst the treatment groups we tested. Given these findings, we hypothesize that MNBs may also improve the oxygenation and survival of a variety of other tissues, including fat grafts from lipoaspirate, chronic wounds, and solid organs.
Large artery stiffening is widely believed to be the primary driver of isolated systolic hypertension and is recognised as a major cardiovascular risk factor . Since arterial stiffness modulates the speed at which blood pressure waves propagate along arteries, and since the greatest loss of arterial compliance with ageing occurs in the aorta, the most popular surrogate index of arterial stiffness is carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (cf-PWV) [1 –4]. This is estimated by measuring the time delay between carotid and femoral arterial pulses and the length between these sites.
Hereby, we would like to submit our response to the Letter to the Editor concerning our manuscript entitled “Analysis of novel cardiovascular biomarkers in patients with pulmonary hypertension (PH)” . We will discuss the comments by the readers below:
TYPE 2 diabetes is a lifelong condition that requires careful monitoring to minimise the risks - rising blood sugar levels can spell trouble for people with type 2 diabetes. A natural supplement has been shown to keep blood sugar levels in check.
CONCLUSION: In patients with isolated LMI, we postulate that disruption of the descending pathway from the pontine micturition centre to the sacral spinal cord at the level of the lateral tegmentum results in urinary retention. PMID: 31607099 [PubMed]
