Transgenic mice expressing human IL-32 develop adipokine profiles resembling those of obesity-induced metabolic changes.
In conclusion, our study provides novel evidence of a direct contribution of IL-32 to pathophysiological perturbations within the adipose tissue, possibly contributing to the metabolic syndrome that precedes frank insulin resistance and T2D. Future research should focus on the role of IL-32 in the obesity epidemic.
