Comparative analgesia between acupuncture and dipyrone in odontalgia
The objective of this study was to assess whether the effectiveness of acupuncture is similar to the use of analgesics in the management of toothache. The research included 56 volunteers who were divided into 4 groups: Real Acupuncture group (n=14), Placebo Acupuncture group (n=14), Real Dipyrone group (n=14), and Placebo Dipyrone group (n=14). The interventions of the study were performed before the dental care. Inclusion criteria were toothache of pulpal origin with pain scale (Visual Analogue Scale-VAS) above 4, absence of medication for the pain, and aged over 18 years. The Real Acupuncture volunteers received a session of acupuncture using piercing needles, while volunteers from the Placebo Acupuncture group received an acupuncture session using non-piercing sham needles. Volunteers from the Real Dipyrone group received a dipyrone tablet and the Placebo Acupuncture group received a tablet with no active ingredient. Before any therapeutic intervention, we collected samples from the volunteers’ saliva to analyze the salivary cortisol, the volunteers rated the intensity of their pain using VAS, and we measured their energy level by the Ryodoraku method. After 20 minutes of treatment, all the volunteers’ analysis parameters were collected again. The Real Acupuncture group presented a greater reduction of VAS than the reduction obtained by the Real Dipyrone group (p
Chinese medicine modalities, including acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine (CHM), have been used as palliative interventions among cancer patients. More research should be conducted to confirm their effectiveness.
Abstract Vulvodynia - Diagnostics and Management Strategies Abstract. Vulvodynia is characterized by chronic, idiopathic vulvar pain lasting for at least three months. After exclusion of other, specific diseases associated with vulvar pain, which can be treated accordingly, realistic therapy goals for this chronic disease should be defined. The therapy concept is multimodal, interdisciplinary as well as individualized and includes the combination of general recommendations with physiotherapeutic and psychotherapeutic measures. Pharmacological therapy, which is indispensable, is carried out off-label and includes t...
Authors: Liu F, You J, Li Q, Fang T, Chen M, Tang N, Yan X Abstract Objectives. Acupuncture has been widely used to relieve chronic pain-related insomnia (CPRI). However, the efficacy of acupuncture for CPRI is uncertain. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of acupuncture for CPRI. Methods. Seven electronic databases were searched from inception to December 2018. Randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were included if acupuncture was compared to sham acupuncture or conventional drug therapies for treating CPRI. Two reviewers screened each study and extracted data independently. Statistical analyses ...
ConclusionsMedical acupuncture can be learned during Family Medicine Residency and results in more satisfied physicians who report prescribing fewer opioids.
CONCLUSION: The results of this review suggest that acupuncture may have a positive pain-relieving effect in neonates. However, due to the low number of available high-quality trials and heterogeneity across the studies it is not possible to state clear recommendations. CONCLUSION: The effect of acupuncture may be associated with dose of acupuncture, with a higher dosage related to better treatment outcomes in terms of relief of pain and dysfunction in patients with knee osteoarthritis. PMID: 31271300 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusion: This review will offer clinical evidence of acupuncture injection therapy for the patients with nonspecific CLBP. PROSPERO Research registration identifying number: CRD42019119158
Addiction is a chronic condition that leads to overdose and death. Addiction ruins lives, families and devastates communities. If you are suffering from addiction, it can be normal to ask yourself hard questions such as, “will I suffer from addiction forever? Is there a cure for addiction?” While there is no magic wand that can cure addiction, it is a treatable condition. When addiction is treated, people can go on to live normal, happy, healthy lives. While addiction may cause a lot of destruction and fractured relationships in its path, people can repair and move on from them as well. The Cure for Addiction:...
Conclusions: Acupuncture reduced visceral pain behavior and induced significant changes in neuronal activity as well as in the levels of pain/inflammation-related cytokines and neurotransmitters in the brain-gut axis. Further researches on the thalamus and on a standard animal model are warranted to improve our knowledge on the mechanism of acupuncture that facilitates visceral pain modulation. Conclusions: While additional, more-rigorous studies are needed, this case series demonstrates the potential that FSM has within an integrated pain treatment program for wounded warriors. PMID: 31297172 [PubMed]
