DR MAX THE MIND DOCTOR: Trying to 'cure' the menopause won't actually help women

While I appreciate the suffering the menopause can cause, I do question whether a development that enables British women to keep their biological clocks ticking on and on is really such a good idea.

CONCLUSIONS: Breastfeeding represents a protective mechanism only in patients without genetic breast cancer predisposing mutations. Environmental and reproductive factors can impact the risk and the age of onset of breast cancer in patients carrying pathogenic mutations, but the mechanisms of action are not fully understood. Date of service: 7/3/2019 A 66-year-old woman with age-related osteoporosis returns to the office for her third denosumab injection. Her last denosumab injection was on Feb. 5, 2019; she had rescheduled her last injection, because she was out of the country in January, when it was due. She is post-menopausal. In conclusion, osteoporosis is prevalent among RA patients, as a part of a complex transformation of body mass composition, involving BMI and fat mass. The novel QUS scanning technique was able to replicate the results of the established DXA measurement of BMD and is potentially suitable for screening wide populations for osteoporosis. Modern humans have more fragile skeletons than other hominins, which may result from physical inactivity. Here we test whether reproductive effort also compromises bone strength, by measuring using computed tomography thoracic vertebral bone mineral density (BMD) and fracture prevalence among physically active Tsimane forager-horticulturalists. Earlier onset of reproduction and shorter interbirth intervals are associated with reduced BMD for women. Tsimane BMD is lower versus Americans, but only for women, contrary to simple predictions relying on inactivity to explain skeletal fragility. Minimal BMD differences exist betw...

We examined the relationship between intrauterine dichlorodiphenyltrichloroethane (DDT) exposure (o,p’-DDT, p,p’-DDT, and p,p’-DDE) and mammographic breast density (MBD) in midlife, one of the strongest risk factors for breast cancer. We focused our analyses on o,p’-DDT exposure given our previous report of a positive association between intrauterine o,p’-DDT exposure and daughter’s breast cancer (BC) risk. Here we estimated associations of intrauterine serum DDTs with MBD in 224 daughters of women in the Child Health and Development Studies pregnancy cohort whose mothers did not develop...

The intensity of oscillations of the photoplethysmographic waveform variability at frequencies 0.04-0.4 Hz is effective marker of hypertension and coronary artery disease in males. Blood Press. 2019 Aug 12;:1-8 Authors: Kiselev AR, Karavaev AS Abstract Background: It is believed that the intensity of oscillations in the photoplethysmographic waveform variability reflects the activity of vascular regulatory mechanisms. However, the relationship of such fluctuations with the state of health is poorly understood. Purpose: The aim of our study was to assess the possibility of using spectral indices ...
