Conclusions: The abnormal location of FLT3 caused by different glycosylation status leads to the distinguishing signaling pathways. Targeting on FLT3 glycosylation may provide a new perspective for therapeutic strategies. Abbreviations: ABCG2: ATP-binding cassette transporter breast cancer resistance protein; ATF: activating transcription factor; AML: acute myeloid leukemia; CHOP: CCAAT-enhancer-binding protein homologous protein; 2-DG: 2-deoxy-D-glucose; EFS: event free survival; EPO: erythropoietin; EPOR: erythropoietin receptor; ERS: endoplasmic reticulum stress; FLT3: FMS-like tyrosine kinase 3; GPI: glycosylphosphatid...

CONCLUSIONSCoverage guidelines for IMRT, SRS, SABR, and PBT vary across 5 major insurance providers and may be substantially discordant when compared to ASTRO coverage guidelines. There remain several specific areas where ongoing and future dialogue between ASTRO, payers, and policymakers remains essential.

18F-fluorocholine (18F-FCH) PET/CT is widely used to study patients affected by prostate cancer. Despite its specificity, however, 18F-FCH may be taken up by other neoplasms such as multiple myeloma, lymphomas, lung, bladder, and colon cancer; brain tumors; and renal and hepatocellular carcinoma. This is due to its ability to evaluate the cell proliferation, which is typical of neoplastic cells. While this behavior may be an opportunity to image more neoplasms, on the other hand it could represent a source of error in the evaluation of the images. Here we present the case of a laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma detected by 18F-FCH.

In this study, we reviewed major human studies on the health risks of radiation exposure and showed that sex-related factors may potentially influence the long-term response to radiation exposure. Available data suggest that long-term radiosensitivity in women is higher than that in men who receive a comparable dose of radiation. The report on the biological effects of ionizing radiation (BEIR VII) published in 2006 by the National Academy of Sciences, United States emphasized that women may be at significantly greater risk of suffering and dying from radiation-induced cancer than men exposed to the same dose of radiation....

In this study, the immunohistochemistry results demonstrated that DEPDC1 was high-expressed in breast cancer tissues compared with the paired adjacent normal breast tissues, and its tendency at protein level was consistent with mRNA level from TCGA data. Moreover, DEPDC1 mRNA level revealed the strongest association with poor prognosis and development in breast cancer. In vitro assays showed that DEPDC1 overexpression resulted in significant promotion of proliferation by regulating cell cycle in MCF-7 cells, whilst an opposite effect was found in the MDA-MB-231 cells with DEPDC1 deletion. Notably, further investigation ind...

Authors: Wierzba W, ƚliwczynski A, Karnafel W, Dziemidok P, Pinkas J Abstract Introduction: Many epidemiological studies show a correlation between the risk of cancer and type 2 diabetes mellitus in various populations. Material and methods: The material was obtained from the database of the National Health Fund. This publication presents a comparison of the incidence of new malignancies in rural and urban populations of diabetic patients in Poland based on the database of the National Health Fund for the period between 1.05.2008 and 30.09.2014. Results: Comparison of the mean incidence of selected maligna...

Conclusion The patient-based sensitivity, specificity and accuracy of WB MRI including DWI were comparable with those of PET/MRI. On the other hand, the lesion-based sensitivities of WB MRI were relatively low, mainly because of the low detectability of small lymph node metastasis. The combination of T2WI and DWI showed acceptable detectability; however, the T1WI sequence showed no additional value to detect malignant lesions on both lesion- and patient-based sensitivities.

Authors: Morgenstern A, Apostolidis C, Kratochwil C, Sathekge M, Krolicki L, Bruchertseifer F Abstract Recent reports of the remarkable therapeutic efficacy of 225Ac-labeled PSMA-617 for therapy of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer have underlined the clinical potential of targeted alpha therapy. This review describes methods for the production of 225Ac and its daughter nuclide 213Bi and summarizes the current clinical experience with both alpha emitters with particular focus on recent studies of targeted alpha therapy of bladder cancer, brain tumors, neuroendocrine tumors and prostate cancer.
