Filtration and removal of artificially contaminated food borne pathogens using dielectrophoresis

This study investigates the removal of foodborne pathogens using dielectrophoretic filter with different voltage and frequency. Experiments are conducted using food samples that are artificially contaminated by E. coli, S. aureus, S. typhi and Pseudomonas spp. Results indicate that the AC signal of 15 V with 1 MHz frequency is suitable for removing bacterial population. The efficiency of DEP system is also analyzed by Scanning Electron Microscope.
