Conclusion: The combined picture of 'low IPT initiation and high completion' seen in our study mirrors findings from other countries. Drug stock-out was the key challenge, which obliged health-care providers to prioritize 'IPT completion' over 'IPT initiation'. There is an urgent need to improve the procurement and supply chain management of isoniazid. PMID: 31937200 [PubMed - in process]

ChIP-seq experiments were performed by using M. smegmatis strains producing GreA prote...

We present an alternative, societal framework for economic evaluations that encompasses a broader set of socioeconomic benefits in addition to health benefits. Quantifying a more comprehensive taxonomy of PCV’s benefits will help to address potential undervaluation and may be sufficient not only to justify recommendation and reimbursement but also to stimulate efforts and investment toward closing coverage gaps.

Recent studies have shown that vitamin B1(VB1) and vitamin C (Vc) could inhibit Mycobacterium tuberculosis growth. However, the precise role of VB1 and Vc in M.tuberculosis are still not well understand. Therefore, in this study, the transcriptional, metabolic and methylation profiles of VB1 and VC treated Mycobacterium. bovis BCG were analyzed by ...

RussellSummaryDissecting the in vivo host-pathogen interplay is crucial to understanding the molecular mechanisms governing control or progression of intracellular infections. In this work, we explore the in vivo molecular dynamics of Mtb infection by performing dual RNA-seq on Mycobacterium tuberculosis-infected, ontogenetically distinct macrophage lineages isolated directly from murine lungs. We first define an in vivo signature of 180 genes specifically upregulated by Mt...

Besides a prompt diagnosis and an early treatment initiation, respiratory isolation of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) patients is a key element to reduce transmission of the infection and its spread into the community.1,2 Pulmonary TB with high-bacillary loads poses a high risk of transmission. Therefore, putting in isolation all patients with newly diagnosed pulmonary TB with smear-positive sputum is recommended.1,2 Such measures can be avoided or discontinued when two to three serial smear-negative sputum samples are available.
