Testicular Myeloid Sarcoma: A Systematic Review of the Literature

Publication date: Available online 15 May 2019Source: Clinical Lymphoma Myeloma and LeukemiaAuthor(s): Kamal Kant Sahu, Akil Adrian Sherif, Ajay Kumar Mishra, Amos Lal, Abijai SinghAbstractMyeloid sarcoma usually involves lymph nodes, and head and neck regions. Uncommon sites like testis and ovary are rarely involved and pose a diagnostic challenge. Nonspecific findings, difficulty in retrieving biopsy specimens, and associated infertility are few of the hurdles faced during diagnosis and treatment of testicular myeloid sarcoma. Our review is an attempt to study myeloid sarcoma involving testis.

We describe outcomes of real-life patients according to the treatment strategy received.PatientsWe retrospectively collected 290 ALK rearranged advanced NSCLC diagnosed between 2011 and 2017 in 23 Italian institutions.ResultsAfter a median follow-up of 26  months, PFS for crizotinib and a new generation ALKis were 9.4 [CI 95% 7.9–11.2] and 11.1 months [CI 95% 9.2–13.8], respectively, while TTF were 10.2 [CI 95% 8.5–12.6] and 11.9 months [CI 95% 9.7–17.4], respectively, being consistent across the different settings. The composed outcomes ( the sum of PFS or TTF) in patients treated wi...

Acute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) can affect the central nervous system (CNS). The role of microglia in CNS-GVHD remains undefined. In agreement with microglia activation, we found that profound morphological changes and MHC-II and CD80 upregulation occurred upon GVHD induction. RNA sequencing–based analysis of purified microglia obtained from mice with CNS-GVHD revealed TNF upregulation. Selective TNF gene deletion in microglia of Cx3cr1creER Tnffl/– mice reduced MHC-II expression and decreased CNS T cell infiltrates and VCAM-1+ endothelial cells. GVHD increased microglia TGF-β–activated kinase...

N-linked glycans play an important role in immunity. Although the role of N-linked glycans in the Fragment crystallizable (Fc) region of immunoglobulins has been thoroughly described, the function of N-linked glycans present in Ig-variable domains is only just being appreciated. Most of the N-linked glycans harbored by immunoglobulin variable domain are of the complex biantennary type and are found as a result of the presence of N-linked glycosylation that most often have been introduced by somatic hypermutation. Furthermore, these glycans are ubiquitously present on autoantibodies observed in some autoimmune diseases as w...
