This infant was born at 34 weeks 5 days estimated gestational age secondary to premature rupture of membranes. Prenatal history was unremarkable with negative infectious serologies, including herpes simplex virus (HSV), and normal anatomy scan at 20 weeks ’ gestation. In the delivery room, vesicular lesions were noted that quickly denuded leaving behind erythematous plaques (Figure 1A). In the delivery room, the infant displayed myoclonic movements. When an EEG was recorded, the aforementioned movements had no electrographic correlate.

Purpose: To report the clinical outcome and postoperative course of Descemet membrane endothelial keratoplasty (DMEK) in irreversible corneal edema due to herpes simplex virus (HSV) endotheliitis. Methods: This is a retrospective, noncomparative, interventional case series. Nineteen eyes of 19 patients underwent standard DMEK combined with cataract surgery (triple DMEK) between May 2016 and April 2018. All patients received perioperative oral acyclovir (ACV) and prednisolone. Patients were followed up on day 1, on day 7, at 1 month, and then at 3 monthly intervals. Preoperative and postoperative best spectacle-correct...

AbstractA new long chain, multifidione (1), together with seven known lathyrane-type diterpenes, 15-epi-4Z-jatrogrossidentadion (2), 4Z-jatrogrossidentadion (3), 2-epi-hydroxy isojatrogrossidentadion (4), 2-hydroxyisojatrogrossidentadion (5), 4E-jatrogrossidentadion (6), 15-epi-4E-jatrogrossidentadion (7), and jatrogrossidion (8), was isolated from the roots ofJatropha multifida L. The chemical structure of this new compound was elucidated by spectroscopic techniques. The known compounds were identified by comparison of the spectroscopic and physical data with those of reported values. The isolated all compounds were evalu...

We report the PRO-seq data generated from our analysis of RNA Polymerase II location along the HSV-1 genome at 3 and 6 hpi. This data set includes analysis of the 3hr time point in cells infected in the presence of cycloheximide and the 6hr time point in cells infected in the presence of phosphonoacetic acid, flavopiridol and acyclovir. We have compared the data set to a cytoplasmic mRNA seq data set which is also included. This consisted of polyadenylated, cytoplasmic RNA analyzed at 3 and 6 hpi post infection. Here we are depositing the results from this analysis providing the raw data sequence files along with our bigwi...

Abstract The in vitro cytotoxic activity in Vero cells and the antiviral activity of Erythrina speciosa methanol extract, fractions, and isolated vitexin were studied. The results revealed that E. speciosa leaves ethyl acetate soluble fraction of the methanol extract (ESLE) was the most active against herpes simplex virus type 1 (HSV-1). Bioactivity-guided fractionation was performed on ESLE to isolate the bioactive compounds responsible for this activity. One sub-fraction from ESLE (ESLE IV) showed the highest activity against HSV-1 and Hepatitis A HAV-H10 viruses. Vitexin isolated from ESLE VI exhibited a signif...
