Conclusions: In this large-scale retrospective analysis of health insurance claims data comprising hospitalized symptomatic PAD patients, treatment of PD was associated with PAD disease severity independent of age, gender and diabetes. In this study, we investigated the usefulness of Spontaneously Diabetic Torii Leprfa (SDT fatty) rats, a new model for obese type 2 diabetes, as a new PAD animal model. We found that hindlimb blood flow in SDT fatty rats was significantly lower than that in Sprague-Dawley (SD) rats under nonischemic conditions. CONCLUSIONS: Reported complication rates associated with femoral VCD implantation are low. However, in some cases VCD implantation may account for severe complications including limb losses. Peripheral arterial disease (PAD) is a highly prevalent, yet underdiagnosed, condition [1]. Although frequently asymptomatic, it is a leading cause of leg pain, claudication, ulceration, gangrene, and even amputation. On the other hand, patients with type 2 diabetes (T2DM) are more likely to develop PAD than do the non-diabetic subjects. Furthermore, they are affected by more severe and extensive form of the disease that tends to involve more distal arteries, progress more quickly, and also it is more likely to lead to ischemic ulceration and amputation [2].
