Authors: Greiner T, Haack B, Toto S, Bleich S, Grohmann R, Faltraco F, Heinze M, Schneider M Abstract Adjustment disorder is a temporary change in behaviour or emotion as a reaction to a stress factor. Therapy consists of psychotherapy, and pharmacotherapy can be advised. However, data on the real-life pharmacological treatment are sparse. Prescription data for 4.235 psychiatric inpatients diagnosed with adjustment disorder in the time period 2000-2016 were analysed. The data were obtained from the Drug Safety Programme in Psychiatry (AMSP). Data were collected on two reference days per year; prescription patterns ...

NewtonAbstractMajor depressive disorder and related illnesses are globally prevalent, with a significant risk for suicidality if untreated. Antidepressant drugs that are currently prescribed do not benefit 30% of treated individuals. Furthermore, there is a delay of 3 or more weeks before a reduction in symptoms. Results from preclinical studies have indicated an important role for trophic factors in regulating behavior. Erythropoiet...

This study examined aspects of psychiatry comorbidity in Intermittent Explosive Disorder (IED) in order to explore the validity of IED in the context of other psychiatric disorders. Data from the National Comorbidity Study – Revised (NCS-R: n = 9,282 adults) and its Adolescent Supplement (NCS-AS: n = 10,148 adolescents) and a large clinical research data set (n = 1640) were analyzed in this study. Mean number of comorbid disorders among current IED participants was similar to that among other Non-IED disorders and comorbidity of IED with Non-IED disorders was similar to comorbidity among Non-IED disorders...

Conclusions: BI affects 1 in 10 mothers, and although BI and PPD are strongly associated at 6-8 and 12-15 months after delivery, BI at 6-8 months is the main predictor of later BI. Based on the study findings, PPD screening in combination with BI assessment is highly recommended during the first year of child's life. PMID: 31438746 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

DiscussionFrom a psychotherapeutic perspective, consideration might be given to attachment style as a risk factor, maybe even a psychopathological vulnerability. From a clinical point of view, we must take that parameter into account to explain the clinical situation of patients.

SummaryContextA wide literature has demonstrated how attachment style can impact symptomatology, for instance anxious, depressive, and post-traumatic symptoms. Life as a student, as a transition period between adolescence and adulthood, consti...
