Medicinal plants with anti-Acanthamoeba activity: A systematic review.

CONCLUSIONS: Recent studies have shown that many natural compounds have high anti-parasitic properties and low toxicity. Our research team hopes that the information provided in present systematic review can improve of new experimental and clinical trials and herbal combination therapy.Further studies are needed to understand the molecular mechanisms in the anti-amoebic reactions of plant species and ocular toxicity of extracts in animal models. This study aimed to evaluate the safety of these protozoa in air conditioners by taking samples of dust from both the surgical center and the intensive therapy unit. We analyzed 48 dust samples that were collected from six air conditioners equipment located in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Surgical Center (SC) of a public hospital. This study aimed to determine the effect of benzothiazole on trophozoite and cyst forms of Acanthamoeba castellanii (A.castellanii). Axenic cultures of A. castellanii trophozoites and cysts were prepared to test the amoebicidal activity of benzothiazole. In this study, 10 rhizosphere samples were collected from maize and alfalfa plants in experimental station at Institute of Genetics, Microbiology and Biotechnology, Szent István University.
