The first reported case of colonic infection caused by Candida glabrata.

We present the first documented case of candida colitis caused by Candida Glabrata in a 56-year-old man with a personal history of morbid obesity and bariatric surgery. The presenting symptoms were diarrhea, rectal bleeding and septic shock. Diagnosis was obtained by histological and microbiological study of the colonoscopy biopsies. Gastroenterologists should be aware of Candida as a cause of colonic infection. Fungal culture is the key to identify specific Candida species and lead to an appropriate antifungal therapy. Conclusion: Relatively few numbers of Medicare patients underwent hip arthroscopy during the time interval evaluated (0.3% when compared to THA utilization). 2.2% underwent a subsequent revision arthroscopy or THA with many occurring soon after the procedure and for the diagnosis of hip OA demonstrating the need to better define indications in this population. This study should provide baseline utilization and outcome trends for future studies.Level of Evidence: IV. PMID: 31413681 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: Prevalence of select lifestyle risk behaviors exceeds 50% in adults with stroke but is higher in adults with diabetes compared with adults without diabetes. Effective interventions, community programs, and healthcare policy are needed to promote lifestyle management in adults with stroke, particularly among those with diabetes. lho O Abstract Mancozeb is a dithiocarbamate non-systemic fungicide widely used to control fungal diseases of plants, commonly applied in apple orchards in Brazil. Instead of its common use, there are no reports about the risk to non-target organisms in Brazilian soils. We studied the risk of Mancozeb (in the commercial formulation Dithane® NT) for standard invertebrate species (Folsomia candida, Eisenia andrei and Enchytraeus crypticus) in two subtropical Brazilian soils, Oxisol and Ultisol, which are representative of apple production areas in Brazil. Reproduction and survival tests were carried out followin...

Authors: Sun J, Li Y, Sun X, Liu Y, Zheng D, Fan L Abstract The present cross-sectional study aimed to assess hepatic fibrosis in chronic hepatitis B (CHB) patients with abdominal obesity and to explore the associated indicators. A total of 615 CHB patients were enrolled and 287 of them had abdominal obesity. The liver stiffness value was measured using Fibroscan. The diagnosis of liver fibrosis was confirmed by a liver stiffness value of>7.4 kPa, and a value of>10.6 kPa was considered to indicate advanced liver fibrosis. The Fibroscan results suggested that the liver stiffness value in patients with abdomina...

In this study, we assessed the effects of pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and gestational weight gain (GWG) on the pregnancy outcomes of women of advanced age using a back-propagation (BP) artificial neural network. We conducted a retrospective analysis on postpartum and hospital delivery data from 1,015 women of advanced maternal age (AMA) hospitalized at the Fujian Provincial Maternity and Children's Hospital from January to June, 2017. Pre-pregnancy overweight was found to increase the incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus (GDM), hypertensive disorders complicating pregnancy (HDCP) and fetal macrosomia. In addi...
