We report a case of a 46-year-old Chinese male who presented with six months history of abdominal pain, weight loss and rectal bleeding. Diagnostic colonoscopy revealed multiple aphthous ulcers within the ileo-caecal region and distal transverse colon, separated by normal mucosa, mimicking skip lesions of Crohn's colitis. Computer topography (CT) scan of the abdomen showed multiple circumferential thickenings involving predominantly the right colon. A clinical diagnosis of colonic Crohn's disease with possible perforation was made. An extended right hemicolectomy was performed due to uncontrolled rectal bleeding. Histopath...

ConclusionRetrosternal goiter causes airway compromise in most patients. Surgery for such cases is a challenging procedure with higher rate of complications, CT-scan is the most single valuable tool in selecting patients for sternotomy before surgery but the final decision for sternotomy is best done during surgery. A team work between a thyroid surgeon and a thoracic surgeon will have better results.

ConclusionWe report a rare case of patient with synchronous liver metastases from gastric cancer who experienced stable disease for 7 years and 3 months following multidisciplinary modalities. Future trials are required to prospectively investigate the established regimen of multidisciplinary treatment.

HatchAbstractFractography is the study of fracture surface morphology and its relationship to crack propagation. Recent work has demonstrated the utility of fractography for interpreting crack propagation and impact direction in fractured bones as part of forensic anthropological trauma analyses on skeletonized remains. In this proof-of-concept work, we assess whether the science of fractography can be applied using CT scans of bone fractures. For CT scans to have practical potential for...

We present a case of a 60-year-old male patient presented with bilateral inguinal swelling associated with urinary hesitancy and intermittency. He had undergone transabdominal preperitoneal (TAPP) repair for a left inguinal hernia 8 years ago. CT scan confirmed the presence of a bilateral hernia with the bladder herniating bilaterally. He underwent an elective bilateral open Lichtenstein tension-free mesh repair.

ConclusionBased on the results of the meta-analysis, MRI may be the first choice for the differential diagnosis of benign and malignant salivary gland tumors for its relatively high diagnostic value. PET/CT tends to have greater accuracy than CT. Ultrasonography and RTE may help achieve better diagnostic outcomes if they are used in conjunction.

A 47-year-old Afro-Caribbean lady presented with a 6-month history of multiple asymptomatic indurated, erythematous papules, nodules and plaques on thighs bilaterally. A deep incisional skin biopsy showed features in keeping with Rosai-Dorfman syndrome (RDD). Screening CT scan and MRI scans revealed retroperitoneal and sacral fibrosis associated with retroperitoneal and para-aortic lymphadenopathy. A retroperitoneal lymph node biopsy excluded an underlying lymphoma. Despite treatment with super potent topical steroids, protopic ointment, dapsone, azathioprine and mycophenolate mofetil, the patient ’s cutaneous lesion...

We present the case of a 56-year-old female with past medical history significant for melanoma on her right sole (unknown Breslow thickness) in 2013 that was excised. In 2016, she presented to our clinic with seronegative dermatomyositis and PET-CT Scan showed hypermetabolic lymph nodes. Subsequent inguinal lymph node biopsies showed melanoma metastasis and was diagnosed with stage 4 melanoma (TxN3bM1a). Ipilimumab and nivolumab combined therapy was started. Approximately ten days after starting therapy, the patient presented with depigmented macules in a freckled-pattern on her face, trunk and extremities, most abundant in sun-exposed areas.
