EP News: Case Reports

Implantable cardiac device migration can negatively impact device function, result in patient discomfort, and adversely impact lead stability in patients with transvenous leads. In patients who receive a subcutaneous implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (SICD), device migration can significantly impact sensing of ventricular tachyarrhythmias as well as defibrillation thresholds. Xiang et  al (DOI: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.hrcr.2019.05.003) described a 44-year-old female patient with morbid obesity (body mass index 41 kg/m2) who underwent ICD implantation for secondary prevention after presentation with out-of-hospital cardiac arrest due to polymorphic ventricular tachycardia.
