On the oil-gas-solid mixed bearing between compression ring and cylinder liner under starved lubrication and high boundary pressures

In this study, the oil-gas-solid mixed bearing characteristics and tribological properties of the top ring under starved lubrication are analyzed. It is found that the high boundary pressure has a significant effect and it can even compare with hydrodynamic lubrication and asperity contact near FTDCs. Besides, the influence of different textures is also investigated. It is found that textures are not always positive for improving the tribological performance of the piston ring-cylinder liner (PRCL) system.
