Metabolic tumor burden on baseline 18 F-FDG PET/CT improves risk stratification in pediatric patients with mature B-cell lymphoma

ConclusionsBaseline TMTV and TLG are both strong independent prognostic factors for pediatric B-NHL and provide a potential approach to aid in risk sub-stratification, especially in patients with high-risk disease.

ConclusionOur data demonstrate that AURKA inhibition induces synthetic lethality and overcomes chemoresistance in Myc-overexpressing lymphoma. The combination of MLN8237 and conventional chemotherapy showed promising safety and anti-tumor activities in preclinical models of Myc-positive NHL.

High-dose chemotherapy and autologous stem cell transplantation (HDT-ASCT) is the standard of care for relapsed or primary refractory (rel/ref) chemorefractory diffuse large B-cell lymphoma. Only 50% of patients are cured with this approach. We investigated safety and efficacy of CD19-specific chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T cells administered following HDT-ASCT. Eligibility for this study includes poor-risk rel/ref aggressive B-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma chemosensitive to salvage therapy with: (1) positron emission tomography–positive disease or (2) bone marrow involvement. Patients underwe...

Authors: Murakami D, Miyashita K, Koyama T, Omori H, Miyamoto Y, Sawatsubashi M, Nakagawa T Abstract The present study investigated histological subtypes of lymphoma in patients newly diagnosed with malignant lymphoma in the human T-cell leukemia virus type 1 (HTLV-1) endemic area of Japan, and further analyzed the clinicopathological features and clinical outcomes of patients with primary sinonasal lymphoma. We retrospectively examined 151 patients aged 18-90 years in Fukuoka, Japan. Subtypes of lymphoma were determined according to the WHO classification. Among the 151 patients, 104 were diagnosed with malignant ...

The objective is, therefore, to examine the relation between co-morbid CVD at cancer diagnosis and HRQoL among cancer survivors diagnosed with colorectal, thyroid, prostate, endometrium, ovarian cancer, melanoma, (non-)Hodgkin lymphoma, chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), or multiple myeloma (MM) in an exploratory population-based cross-sectional study. Material and methods: Analyses were performed on combined data sets from the PROFILES and Netherlands Cancer Registry (NCR). Data on co-morbid CVD at cancer diagnosis was extracted from the NCR. HRQoL was measured via PROFILES at a median of 4.6 years after cancer di...

AbstractDiffuse large B cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is the most common form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma among adults, although it also affects the young and the elderly. DLBCL is treated with a chimeric monoclonal antibody against CD20, a B cell surface protein, named rituximab, in combination with a multidrug chemotherapeutic regimen. However, owing to its high cost, rituximab cannot be afforded by patients in developing or underdeveloped countries. In such cases, biosimilars of rituximab have been used instead of rituximab, with equivalent efficacy. In this single center, retrospective, observational study, we have compared patien...

We present a case of a 58-year-old man who presented with 5 years of cutaneous symptoms and several months of fevers and night sweats, ultimately diagnosed as MF. Owing to diffuse CD30 positivity, he was a candidate for brentuximab vedotin, an antibody-drug conjugate medication that selectively targets the CD30 antigen. This resulted in an excellent therapeutic response.

Abstract BACKGROUND: A cohort of male lead-exposed workers with past blood lead levels, previously followed for mortality over 12 years, has now been followed for an additional 10 years. This has doubled the number of deaths and allowed for examination of mortality outcomes across a wide range of blood lead levels. OBJECTIVE: Evaluate association between lead exposure and 16 causes of death. METHODS: The cohort included male workers from 11 U.S. states enrolled in a U.S. lead surveillance program. Maximum blood lead level for each worker was abstracted from surveillance records. Mortality was assessed us...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Obesity has implications for hematopoietic progenitor cell (HPC) mobilization, chemotherapy administration, and medication dosing. We analyzed the impact of obesity on HPC mobilization as well as key outcomes that are associated with cell dose in autologous hematopoietic cell transplantation (AHCT) recipients. METHODS: We conducted a retrospective cohort study on 556 consecutive eligible AHCT recipients at our institution from 1/2004 to 12/2009. Patients were categorized into four groups based on the body mass index (BMI): underweight (BMI

DISCUSSION: Skin involvement in ENKTL is non-specific and uncommon, which can delay diagnosis. Treatment is based on polychemotherapy comprising L-asparaginase and possibly consolidation therapy with autologous or allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. The prognosis of ENKTL-NT is poor due the more aggressive nature of the disease compared with the nasal forms, with frequent visceral involvement and macrophage activation syndrome. Skin involvement seems to be a poor prognostic factor. Although ocular involvement is documented, its association with skin involvement is rare and mainly secondary to nasal forms of...
