Design method for suppressing stick-slip using dynamic vibration absorber

In this study, we employed a DVA to suppress the occurrence of stick-slip (SS) generated in sliding systems. By conducting a theoretical analysis and a numerical simulation based on a simplified analytical model, we established a design standard that presents the appropriate design conditions for DVAs to achieve smooth sliding without SS. First, combined with two existing theories: the DVA theory (termed the fixed-points theory) and the SS dynamics theory, the boundary conditions of the occurrence and nonoccurrence of SS were solved. Next, the validity of the boundary solved in this study was confirmed by numerical simulations.
