Discordance between antral follicle counts and anti-M üllerian hormone levels in women undergoing in vitro fertilization.

CONCLUSIONS: Our study demonstrated that approximately one in five patients in clinical practice showed discordance between AFCs and AMH levels. In view of the AFC being better than AMH for predicting POR, the AFC should be the preferred indicator for predicting ovarian response to subsequently develop an optimal individualized COH protocol. Frank J. Broekmans* University Medical Center Utrecht, Utrecht, Netherlands The art of ovarian stimulation for IVF/ICSI treatment using exogenous FSH should be balanced against the relative contribution of other steps of the ART process such as the IVF-lab-phase and the Embryo-Transfer. The aim of ovarian stimulation is to obtain a certain number of oocytes, that will enable the best probability of achieving a live birth. It has been suggested that more oocytes will create a better prospect for pregnancy, but studies on the question whether the retrieval of a few oocytes less or more will make the difference are ...

Male infertility is common, and is usually responsible for about 40% of all infertile cases. The commonest reason is the low sperm count, also known as oligospermia. What breaks my heart is the poor quality of treatment which these men get. Typically, they go to a gynecologist who has no clue about how to deal with men , because all they do is deal with women. However, when confronted with something they don't understand, like most doctors, they mindlessly tick off lots of boxes on a laboratory order form, to "investigate" so they can make a "diagnosis". They usually order a panel of tests , including ho...

Conclusions: Using IVF to investigate human reproduction and pregnancy outcomes, we found that concentrations of some urinary PFR metabolites were negatively associated with proportions of successful fertilization, implantation, clinical pregnancy, and live birth. https://doi.org/10.1289/EHP1021 Received: 26 August 2016 Revised: 10 April 2017 Accepted: 02 June 2017 Published: 25 August 2017 Address correspondence to C. Discussion The various possible pathophysiological mechanisms are described, with a review of the literature on simultaneous bilateral extrauterine pregnancy following ART. In pregnancies following ART, ectopic pregnancy should always be screened for by serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin monitoring and transvaginal ultrasound until the implantation site can be confirmed as the incidence is higher than in spontaneous pregnancy. Even if serum β-human chorionic gonadotropin concentration increases normally, possible bilateral ectopic pregnancy should always be investigated if no intrauterine gestational sac can be seen.

CONCLUSIONS: AFC is more sensitive than the AMH in detecting ovarian response in women with ovarian endometrioma. The individualization of GnRH antagonist protocols in subjects having endometrioma might be improved by using an AFC-tailored approach instead of AMH. PMID: 28617534 [PubMed - in process]

Conclusion The thinner the junctional zone at day of OPU, the higher the implantation rate and the difference between JZ measured at the day of down regulation and the day of OPU is a predictor of the outcome of ICSI cycles.
