Cardiac Rehabilitation for Women Post –Coronary Artery Bypass Graft

Cardiac rehabilitation (CR) is underused in the United States, yet it potentially can improve the health and quality of many lives after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. One major reason patients do not attend CR is because of a lack of referrals from health care professionals. Unfortunately, women are less likely to be referred, attend, and complete CR compared with men after coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Nurse practitioners in primary care are in a position to assist with increased referrals for women, especially those with race, age, and socioeconomic status disparities.
