Preface

Our nation ’s population is aging, and the cultural and social diversity in our country is steadily increasing. More and more people are suffering with multiple chronic complex illnesses. In addition to this, we have increasing numbers of people who are suffering from functional decline, frailty, debility, a nd dementia. The complexities of caring for our elderly put an increasing strain on our health care system, and much of this burden is placed on our primary care providers. The need to educate our providers on the care of these individuals is paramount to ensuring the quality of care that our elderl y require and deserve for a fulfilling life.
