Authors: Wang B, Li J, Yin J Abstract Diagnostic value of echocardiography in fetal cardiac malformation and clinical classification was investigated. In total, 206 high-risk parturients, who received a screening of prenatal fetal cardiac malformation in Jinan Maternity and Child Care Hospital from January 2015 to June 2017, were retrospectively analyzed, among those parturients, the results of labor induction or newborns of 141 parturients were diagnosed as cardiac malformation, the fetuses of 65 parturients were diagnosed as non-cardiac malformation, the detection of fetal cardiac malformation of all the parturie...

We present the clinical course of a 10 years old child with diagnosis of Prune-Belly syndrome. A urinary tract abnormality was suspected starting 25 weeks of gestation, when a routine ultrasound showed oligohydramnios, increased size urinary bladder, bilateral hydronephrosis and megaureters, thin abdominal wall. Diagnosis: Prenatal suspicion of Prune-Belly syndrome plays a deciding role in renal disease progression. A detailed clinical exam at birth established the diagnosis of Prune-Belly syndrome. Renal ultrasound confirmed bilateral grade III hydronephrosis and megaureters, with empty bladder, suggesting an obstructi...

Conclusion: Preliminary results show that amniotomy-to-delivery interval was prolonged with 9 hours in the DO-group, with equal patient reported childbirth perception in the overall group. Parous women have a less positive perception of their delivery and used pain relief more often when oxytocin was delayed. Delaying oxytocin infusion after amniotomy should be further investigated in an adequately powered randomised trial.

Conclusions: Vaginal dinoprostone appears to be a relatively inefficient method of inducing labor compared with oxytocin in term pregnancies with PROM and unfavorable cervixes. However, dinoprostone may maintain uterine contractions as effectively as oxytocin once uterine contractions are established. PMID: 31360185 [PubMed]

Authors: Wen J, Chen Q, Luo Q Abstract The aim of this study was to identify the main contributor to the high Caesarean section birth rate at a regional perinatal medical centre using the Robson Ten Group Classification System (TGCS). A total of 54,085 women were surveyed and were included in our study from 2015 to 2017 at the Women's Hospital at Zhejiang University School of Medicine in Hangzhou, China. The Caesarean birth rate was similar among the three years; although, the new two-childbirth policy in China has been in implementation since 2016. According to the TGCS, Group 5 was the largest contributor to the ...

Authors: Sharma P, Pathania K, Rana UB Abstract The induction of labour is required for various indications in obstetrics. Various regimens and drugs are advocated for use in labour induction. Guillermo Rus A torsional wave (TW) sensor prototype was employed to quantify stiffness of the cervix in pregnant women. A cross-sectional study in a total of 18 women between 16 weeks and 35 weeks + 5 days of gestation was performed. The potential of TW technique to assess cervical ripening was evaluated by the measurement of stiffness related to gestational age and cervical length. Statistically significant correlations were found between cervical stiffness and gestational age ( R 2 = 0.370 , p = 0.0074 , using 1 kHz waves and R 2 = 0.445 , p = 0.0250 , using 1.5 kHz waves). A uniform decrease in stiffness of th...
