Do acetylcholinesterase inhibitors prevent or delay psychotropic prescribing in people with dementia? Analyses of the Swedish Dementia Registry
Behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) contribute to poor quality of life, caregiver distress and admission to aged care services. BPSD may affect between 50 to 90% of people diagnosed with dementia during the course of their disease1. Symptoms include agitation, aggression, hallucinations, delusions, depression, apathy, wandering, disinhibition, and sleep disturbances2.
