Track-and-trace: Novel anti-counterfeit measures for 3D printed personalized drug products using smart material inks

This study reports, for the first time, the interface between 3D printing and 2D inkjet printing technologies in order to fabricate a drug-loaded 3D printed tablet (printlet) with a unique track-and-trace measure in a single step process. In particular, quick response (QR) codes and data matrices were printed onto the surface of polymeric-based printlets for scanning using a smartphone device, and were designed to encode tailored information pertaining to the drug product, patient and prescriber. Moreover, a novel anti-counterfeit strategy was designed, which involved the deposition of a unique combination of material inks for detection using Raman spectroscopy. The inks were characterised for printability by measuring surface tension, viscosity and density, and each was successfully detected on the 3D printed tablet post-printing. Overall, this novel approach will enable an enhanced transparency and tracking of 3D printed medicines across the supply chain, leading to a safer treatment pathway for patients.Graphical abstract

This study examined whether a novel, detector-based spectral CT scanner (SDCT) may improve subjective assessment of different types of pancreatic lesions and if various quantitative maps may improve lesion contrast and differentiation.Materials and methods61 consecutive patients who underwent clinical, contrast-agent enhanced, abdominal SDCT scans and showed pancreatic lesions of different origins were included. Subjective image analysis was performed by two readers who assessed image quality, lesion conspicuity and diagnostic confidence on 5-point Likert scales for conventional polyenergetic reconstructions (polyE), virtu...

A comparison between LP(GMA) and CLP(GMA) polymer composites as an immobilization matrix for biosensing applications: A model immunosensor for IL 1α. Anal Chim Acta. 2019 Oct 24;1077:129-139 Authors: Aydın EB, Sezgintürk MK Abstract A comparative study was made by using two matrices (Linear poly(glycidyl methacrylate) (GMA) polymer (LP(GMA)) and carbon black-polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF)-LP(GMA) composite CLP(GMA)) as immobilization platforms for anti-IL 1α antibody on the development of impedimetric immunosensor for IL 1α biomarker determination. These materials were spin coa...
