We read the article entitled “Outcome and Patterns of Relapse in Childhood Parameningeal Rhabdomyosarcoma (pRMS) Treated With Proton Beam Therapy (PT)” by Doyen et al with great interest.1 This is an important study with the aim of identifying the relapse pattern and the correlation with dosimetric parameters in 46 patient s with pRMS treated with PT. After a median follow-up of 2.9 years, 2-year local control was 83.7%. There was no correlation between dosimetric factors and outcomes. Local failure was observed in 7 of the 11 relapses, and 5 were isolated local failure.

CONCLUSIONS: This paper presents five cases and a radiographic inventory to illustrate disturbances of dental development associated with chemotherapy and radiotherapy therapy in children. Medical and dental professionals involved in the treatment of cancer survivors are relatively unaware of the dental consequences of radiation therapy and the age dependency of specific regional effects. These effects can be severe, with great impact on quality of life. Further research in this area could help improve planning of radiation therapy for children, potentially preventing or limiting dental or maxillofacial sequelae. PMID:...

CONCLUSION: High TMB was associated with worse clinical outcomes in patients with RMS. With further validation, TMB and other genomic classifiers may be combined with traditional clinicopathologic risk factors to guide risk stratification and ultimately treatment decisions.
