Comparative study of corticosteroid monotherapy, and TNF inhibitors with or without corticosteroid in patients with refractory entero-Behcet ’s disease

Tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitors (TNF-i) are effective in the treatment of entero-Behcet ’s disease (BD). However, there is no objective tool for assessment of disease activity in entero-BD; therefore, it...

We report a 36-year-old man with chronic cough, hemoptysis, significant weight loss, and orogenital ulcers from one year before referral. Initial assessments revealed multiple parahillar nodules in chest X-ray, chronic inflammatory anemia, erythrocyte sedimentation rate more than 100, and positive Human Leukocyte Antigen B5 and B51. Evaluation for infection and malignancies was unremarkable. Open exploratory lung study showed multiple pulsatile nodules in both lungs. AMIGO computed tomogram confirmed multiple right and left pulmonary artery aneurysms and impending to rupture aneurysm at subdivision of inferior mesenteric a...

We presented a new statistic T to use large public database as reference to reduce concern of potential population stratification. And the new statistic proposed here is effective to discover novel genome-wide significant loci with both small and large sample sizes. Author Contributions YW conceived the idea and developed the software. YL, MH, and XL contributed data analysis, generating tables and figures, and manuscript writing. YW, YL, MH, XL, YS, and LJ contributed the theoretical analysis and manuscript revision. MX helped support the GWAS datasets. YW, YL, MH, XL, MZ, JW, and MX contributed to scientific discussion...

In this study, we use LACC1-deficient mice to gain insight into the role of LACC1 in regulating inflammation. Following oral administration of Citrobacter rodentium, LACC1 knockout (KO) mice had more severe colon lesions compared with wildtype (WT) controls. Immunization with collagen II, a collagen-induced arthritis (CIA) model, resulted in an accelerated onset of arthritis and significantly worse arthritis and inflammation in LACC1 KO mice. Similar results were obtained in a mannan-induced arthritis model. Serum and local TNF in CIA paws and C. rodentium colons were significantly increased in LACC1 KO mice compared with ...

AbstractBackground/ ObjectivesMusculoskeletal manifestations are frequent in Adamantiades ‐Behcet's disease (ABD) but only represent non‐specific clinical findings. They have not been included in the two commonly used sets of classification criteria. The occurrence of musculoskeletal manifestations at ABD onset may even delay or obscure the diagnosis, therefore detailed knowledge of the different musculoskeletal manifestations is essential. Our objective was to describe musculoskeletal signs and their clinical course in Greek ABD patients.MethodsWe conducted a retrospective cohort study, which included all patients wit...

Authors: Wang X, Xu K, Chen S, Li Y, Li M Abstract Interleukin-1 family 7 (IL-1F7) is a novel member of IL-1F cytokines. IL-1F7 is more commonly known as IL-37. IL-37 can join the α-subunit of the IL-18 receptor, or IL-18 binding protein (IL-18BP), and binding of these proteins can enhance the IL-18 suppression. IL-37 also translocates to the cell nucleus and affects gene transcription. IL-37 inhibits the phosphorylation of p38 mitogen-activated protein kinases. Almost all reports showed that IL-37 has remarkable anti-inflammatory activity. IL-37 plays an important role in a variety of inflammatory and autoim...

Authors: Hussain M, Xiao J, Zhang Y, Chen P, Du H Abstract BACKGROUND: Ribonucleoproteins particles that form the spliceosomes are among the most frequently targeted molecules of the autoimmune response. In the last few years, autoantibodies against all A/B hnRNP proteins have been found in the sera of patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), mixed connective tissue disease (MCTD), and serve as diagnostic markers for several rheumatic diseases. However, the functional role of hnRNP C1/C2 in autoimmune diseases is still not clearly understood. OBJECTIVE: To identify hnRNP C1/C...
