Comparison of Radical Antegrade Modular Pancreatosplenectomy with Standard Retrograde Pancreatosplenectomy for Left-Sided Pancreatic Cancer: A Meta-Analysis and Experience of a Single Center.
CONCLUSIONS Our study suggests that RAMPS has better prognosis and surgical outcomes than SRPS for left-sided pancreatic cancer. Nevertheless, more high-quality clinical trials are required to validate the result. PMID: 31221951 [PubMed - in process]
(Houston Methodist) Cancer scientists at Houston Methodist have been looking for more effective late-stage treatments for ovarian and pancreatic cancers and may have found one.
British Journal of Cancer, Published online: 22 July 2019; doi:10.1038/s41416-019-0510-xThe relationship between pancreatic cancer and hypercoagulability: a comprehensive review on epidemiological and biological issues
Conclusion: The SASA, E-PASS, and P-POSSUM were confirmed to be predictive of 30-day postoperative mortality in older patients undergoing abdominal elective cancer surgery. Only SASA demonstrated as independent factor predicting postoperative 30-day major morbidity. PMID: 31319764 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Expression of circular RNA CDR1‑AS in colon cancer cells increases cell surface PD‑L1 protein levels. Oncol Rep. 2019 Jul 19;: Authors: Tanaka E, Miyakawa Y, Kishikawa T, Seimiya T, Iwata T, Funato K, Odawara N, Sekiba K, Yamagami M, Suzuki T, Ishibashi R, Otsuka M, Koike K Abstract The expression of CDR1‑AS, a representative circular RNA, is closely linked with poor prognosis in gastrointestinal cancers, such as colon, liver, and pancreatic cancers. Although it is well known that CDR1‑AS antagonizes microRNA‑7 function through its sequence similarities in the brain, its biological function a...
ConclusionsThe observed reductions in probabilities of death over three decades for Australian cancer patients are encouraging. However, this study also highlights the ongoing mortality burden following a cancer diagnosis, and the need for continuing efforts to improve cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment.

Abstract Ectopic pancreas is uncommon in the anterior mediastinum. Herein, a 32-year-old woman presented to our institution for investigation of an abnormal mediastinal shadow on chest computed tomography. The patient underwent complete surgical resection of the anterior mediastinal mass by right thoracoscopy, and the postoperative pathology examination confirmed the diagnosis of ectopic pancreas. There were no clinical signs of pancreatitis. No recurrence or metastasis was observed during a follow-up period of 3 years. English language medical literature was also searched in order to identify other case reports d...
CONCLUSIONS: NPO funding by cancer type is not proportionate with individual cancer burden on society. Disease stigma negatively impacts funding. A significant need exists to increase awareness and funding for many undersupported but common and highly lethal cancers. PMID: 31319386 [PubMed - in process]
