Magnesium-dependent phosphatase (MDP) 1 is a potential suppressor of gastric cancer.

CONCLUSIONS: These results suggest that MDP1 protein suppresses the survival of gastric cancer cells and loss of MDP expression may benefit the recurrence of gastric cancer. PMID: 31218958 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study, we found that DB inhibited GC cells and hepatocytes cell viability in a dose- and time-dependent manner. Specifically, high-dose DB (50μM) significantly inhibited cell proliferation and promoted cell apoptosis, while low dose DB (12.5μM) had little effects on cell viability. Besides, high-dose DB (50μM) significantly decreased CircRNA CDR1as levels in gastric cancer cells instead of hepatocytes. Notably, knock-down of CircRNA CDR1as triggered low-dose DB (12.5μM) induced GC cell death, but had little effects on hepatocytes proliferation and apoptosis. Further results showed that CircRNA CDR1as in...

ConclusionsTranscervical pharyngo-laryngo-cervico-esophagectomy should be considered in patients with isolated cervical esophageal tumors. Pharyngo-laryngo-cervico-esophagectomy allows adequate tumor resection while preserving the esophagus and stomach below. Operative morbidity and mortality outcomes were improved without compromising oncologic control.

Publication date: Available online 18 September 2019Source: PeptidesAuthor(s): Aneta Lidia Zygulska, Agata Furgala, Jolanta Kaszuba-ZwoiƄska, Krzysztof Krzemieniecki, Krzysztof GilAbstractPhysiological roles of enterohormones such as secretion, absorption and digestion were supported by clinical data. Overexpression of cholecystokinin (CCK), neurotensin (NT) and vasoactive intestinal peptide (VIP) receptors occur in gastrointestinal (GI) malignancies. The aim of the paper was to compare plasma levels of CCK, peptide YY (PYY), VIP and NT in patients with gastrointestinal malignancies and healthy controls. The study include...

ConclusionsOur study data indicated that miR-27b-3p is downregulated by aberrant DNA methylation in GC. In addition, miR-27b-3p suppresses GC cell proliferation, invasion, and migration via negative expression regulation of GSPT1, which could be a potential therapeutic target.

Conclusions: The effects of vonoprazan is better than PPIs than H2RAs in preventing bleeding after ESD. When vonoprazan combined with mucosal protective antiulcer drug in treatment or used in 8 weeks of medication, the efficacy may be even better.

Authors: Waldum HL, Rehfeld JF Abstract Gastric cancer, a disease with a reduced frequency for decades, now appears to be on the rise again in young Americans. The epidemiology of gastric cancer differs between tumors in the cardia and those of the more distal parts of the stomach. The tumors are divided into the intestinal type showing glandular growth pattern and the diffuse type with a different pattern. The latter often expresses neuroendocrine and more specifically ECL-cell markers suggesting that they originate from the ECL cell, the target cell for the antral hormone, gastrin. Helicobacter pylori gastritis i...

Intratumor heterogeneity (ITH) is suspected to contribute to poor outcomes. Here we investigate the degree of ITH in multiple primary and metastatic regions of gastric adenocarcinoma tumours.ITH increased significantly with lymph node metastasis formation and subclonal aberrations activating the Mitogen Activated Protein Kinase (MAPK)-pathway w...
