Despite its large population size, China has had no comprehensive study of the national prevalence, risk factors, and management of asthma. We therefore aimed to estimate the national prevalence of asthma in a representative sample of the Chinese population.MethodsA representative sample of 57 779 adults aged 20 years or older was recruited for the national cross-sectional China Pulmonary Health (CPH) study using a multi-stage stratified sampling method with parameters derived from the 2010 census. Ten Chinese provinces, representative of all socioeconomic settings, from six geographical regions were selected, and all assessments were done in local health centres. Exclusion criteria were temporary residence, inability to take a spirometry test, hospital treatment of cardiovascular conditions or tuberculosis, and pregnancy and breastfeeding. Asthma was determined on the basis of a self-reported history of diagnosis by a physician or by wheezing symptoms in the preceding 12 months. All participants were assessed with a standard asthma questionnaire and were classed as having or n...

We report an unusual cause of low SAAG ascites in a 48-year-old woman with valvular heart disease. The patient presented with ascites, and cross-sectional imaging revealed a right iliac fossa mass with omental deposits. The patient was finally diagnosed as having pseudomyxoma peritonei on the basis of clinicoradiopathological features. DISCUSSION: Pseudomyxoma peritonei is a rare cause of low SAAG ascites. It is characterized by the deposition of mucinous material on the peritoneal surfaces. The most common site of origin is the appendix, although it can arise from other intraabdominal organs as well. Excision of the t...

In the study, acidification combined electrodialysis (ED) was attempted to effectively separate Cl− ions from organics in concentrate pulping wastewater. Membrane's rejection rate...

Two-hybrid coolants with graphene as one of the prime components are synthesized and images of the particles are shown using scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Heat transfer Properties like thermal conductivity of the hybrid fluid, specific heat, density, and viscosity are evaluated experimentally and theoretically. The heat transfer char...

It was found that the resin with an ionic capacity of 630 mmol·L−1 (FF-PEI-CR630) possessed high adsorption performance towards lysozyme at 0–100 mmol·L−1 NaCl. ...

The measurement was conducted with atmospherically relevant HO2 concentrations (˜1 × 109 molecule cm-3) at 51% RH. The measured γ(HO2) onto aqueous (NH4)2SO4 aerosol was 0.001 ± 0.0007, which was consistent with the relatively low first-order loss rate of HO...

In the study, we develop a novel N-doped TiO2 mesoporous nanostructure via the addition of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) solution following a scalable hydrothermal process. The as-made TiO2 product shows well-defined morphology, high conductivity, large surface area, and abundant mesopores. When evaluated ...

Here we designed and synthesized five newly unsymmetrical photochromic diarylethene (DAE) dyads (BTE1–5) by connecting tetraphenylethene (TPE) and aromatic substituent via bithienylethene (BTE) bridge. The chemical structures of those compounds are identified by 1H NMR, 13C NMR and HRMS. The absorption and emission of th...
