New HIV cases spike in Multnomah County

After declining for five years, HIV infections have suddenly risen in Multnomah County, especially among people who use methamphetamine or injection drugs, health officials said Thursday. In the last 18 months, they’ve identified 42 cases among people who report injection drug use as a risk. That compares to 25 total for 2016 and 2017 that had injection drug use for a factor.
