SILK studies — capturing the turnover of proteins linked to neurodegenerative diseases

Nature Reviews Neurology, Published online: 20 June 2019; doi:10.1038/s41582-019-0222-0Paterson and colleagues describe how stable isotope labelling kinetics (SILK) can be used to determine protein production and clearance rates. They highlight the promise of SILK studies for elucidating the role of pathogenic proteins in neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer disease.
