The News about Dialysis Conduit Procedures: Bad or Not so Bad?
Chiarello et al (1) present interesting, and in some ways troubling, data on the current state of percutaneous interventions in patients with dialysis conduit dysfunction. Back in 2001, the start of their study period, the vast majority of dialysis conduit angiographic and thrombectomy procedures were performe d by interventional radiologists in hospital settings. From that year to 2015, the utilization rate per 100,000 beneficiaries of conduit angiography increased by 171% and the utilization rate of thrombectomies increased by 47%.
