How Thoracic Surgeon Manage Tracheal Tumours in African Country? (Case series)

ConclusionPrimary tumors of the trachea remain of reserved prognosis with 5-year survival of 57% of all histological types combined. Computed tomodensitometry and tracheobronchial fibroscopy remain the means of reference exploration in the diagnosis and assessment of surgical resectability.

Halogenated boroxine dipotassium trioxohydroxytetrafluorotriborate K2[B3O3F4OH] inhibits emerging multidrug-resistant and β-lactamase-producing opportunistic pathogens. Drug Dev Ind Pharm. 2019 Aug 16;:1-21 Authors: Maravić A, Rončević T, Krce L, Ilić N, Galić B, Čikeš Čulić V, Carev I Abstract Halogenated boroxine dipotassium trioxohydroxytetrafluorotriborate, K2[B3O3F4OH] (boroxine) was previously shown to be very effective in inhibition of several carcinoma cell lines, including the skin cancer. Here, we investigated its antimicrobial potential by targeting the multidrug-resistan...

Conclusions Despite a limited number of patients, a male predominance and late-onset psoriasis were frequently observed. Although interferon therapy for HCV can exacerbate psoriasis, it is not contraindicated. All conventional treatments and anti-TNFs can be used, provided that there is strict collaboration with hepatologists. PMID: 31418622 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Abdel-Rahman O Abstract Objective: To assess the prognostic impact of socioeconomic status (SES) on the outcome of cases with cutaneous melanoma. Methods: Novel SEER socioeconomic database has been accessed and patients with malignant melanoma of the skin (2000-2015) were reviewed. SES was evaluated through a specialized multi-dimension index and patients were classified into three groups (group 1/2/3) where group 1 has the lowest SES and group 3 has the highest SES. Kaplan-Meier survival estimates were used to evaluate the impact of SES on overall survival and multivariable Cox regression analysis was use...

We appreciate the interest that Roncati and Piscioli showed in our recent publication, in which we evaluated the risk of sentinel lymph node (SLN) metastases in nonulcerated, T1b melanoma by the new 8th edition American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging criteria.1 The authors propose a model of melanoma progression based on the transition from a radial growth phase to a vertical growth phase (VGP) that can predict biologic aggressiveness and propensity to metastasize.

In comparison with the 7th Edition, the 8th Edition of the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC) staging system for melanoma no longer considers the mitotic count in the a or b T1 categorization, but it adopts a sub-stratification based on Breslow depth: T1a ≤ 0.8 mm without ulceration and T1b ≤ 0.8 mm with ulceration or 0.8 to 1 mm with or without ulceration. Skin melanoma can be subdivided by Breslow depth into thin melanoma (≤1 mm) or thick melanoma (>1  mm). According to the AJCC 8th Edition, a and b specifications are assigned based on ulceration and depth, which replace the mitotic count for square millimeter.

Publication date: Available online 16 August 2019Source: Pharmacological ResearchAuthor(s): Xiaoge Gao, Mengxue Wei, Wenhua Shan, Qian Liu, Jian Gao, Yong Liu, Songlei Zhu, Hong YaoAbstractValidation of a small molecular compound targeting the oncogenic pathways is the primary approach for the development of the anti-cancer drugs. In the present study, we employed the computational mimic drug targets prediction software to foresee the molecular targets of a series of spirooxindole-pyrrolizidine derivatives, which were synthesized by our laboratory via targeted combinational chemistry. We found that CPHSP, a novel spirooxin...

ConclusionsResidual disease may be inconspicuous or absent on cytology, colposcopy and/or histology. Management taking account of risk of recurrence (age, CIN3 depth, incomplete initial excision) could avoid some post-treatment cancers.

AbstractMFAP5, a 25-kD microfibril-associated glycoprotein that is involved in elastic microfibril assembly, has been demonstrated to be significantly downregulated in tumor stroma by previous gene expression study. The aim of this study was to confirm the reduced expression of MFAP5 in colonic tumor stroma using immunohistochemistry and to explore the utility of MFAP5 as a marker to facilitate diagnosing an invasive component versus pseudoinvasion in colon polyps. In all 19 colon cancer resection cases evaluated, while there was intact MFAP5 immunoreactivity in the uninvolved normal connective tissue, there was marked red...

CONCLUSIONS The effect of PL on the SDF-1-CXCR4/CXCR7 axis has become an attractive target for inhibiting angiogenesis in hepatoma cells. Our results provide more evidence for the clinical application of PL as part of traditional Chinese medicine in modern cancer treatment. PMID: 31415486 [PubMed - in process]
