Scedosporium spp. osteomyelitis: A case report.
We present here a case of a 54- year- old male patient with a diagnosis of chronic bacterial osteomyelitis due to an aquatic accident and exposed fracture of tibia-fibula of both members, which was treated with broad-spectrum antibiotics for 120 days. Eight months after the onset of the disease, Scedosporium spp. was isolated from the collection of one of the affected member, which was treated with voriconazole in combination with terbinafine. Conclusion: Although treatment algorithms are an attractive tool to guide clinicians and resource allocation, they need to take into account the local population characteristics before routine implementation. Level of Evidence: Level IV–retrospective cohort study.
ConclusionNearly one-fourth of the children presented with isolated back pain, particularly girls. The most common sites of disease were the femur, tibia and pelvic bones. Increased inflammatory markers seem to predict the number of MRI sites involved.

Melioidosis is an infection caused by Gram-negative bacillus Burkholderia pseudomallei commonly present in the water and soil (Limmathurotsakul et al., 2013; Benoit et al., 2015). We report our experience using the omentum free flap to provide coverage in two patients suffering chronic osteomyelitis of the lower limbs. After extensive soft tissue and bone debridement, an omentum free flap was performed in both cases, providing dead space obliteration and soft tissue coverage in behalf of its large size and pliability. As a result, the chronic illness was eradicated in both patients, with satisfactory outcomes and infection resolution.
